SUMMARY:Skyline Technology Solutions Webinar: Beyond the FIrewall: Why the Browser is Your New Perimeter
DESCRIPTION:Most organizations don’t realize that the browser is the largest hole in their security posture. This is supported by recent news from Anthropic’s Project Glasswing\, where Claude Mythos discovered thousands of unknown vulnerabilities across every major consumer-grade browser. \nStudents input data into GenAI tools\, educators access student data\, municipal staff manage infrastructure\, and contractors interact with SaaS applications using the browser. This webinar\, hosted by Palo Alto Networks\, aims to educate the Maryland public sector with the following information: \n\n“How can the browser become the tip of your security strategy\, rather than a vulnerability?”\n‘With the advent of enterprise browsers\, how can I make the browser a strength for users\, rather than their biggest weakness?’\n\nPresenters: Bill Polish\, Prisma Browser Specialist\, Palo Alto Networks; & Rick Fairhurst\, Skyline Partner Manager \nIntended Audience: K-12 members

SUMMARY:DALY Webinar: Building Safer Learning Environments
DESCRIPTION:Security cameras are in 93% of public schools—but having cameras isn’t the same as having security. Many Maryland educational institutions are operating with aging\, disconnected systems that were installed years ago and no longer reflect the realities of modern campus security. \nThis 40-minute webinar\, presented by DALY Computers\, offers MEEC members a vendor-agnostic look at the current state of physical security in educational environments. We’ll cover what’s changed in security technology over the past five years\, the unique challenges facing K-12 and higher education\, and a practical framework for building a security roadmap—regardless of budget constraints.\nTopics include: \n\nThe “”islands of security”” problem and why integration matters\nComponents of modern physical security: video\, access control\, sensors\, visitor management\nCloud vs. on-premises options: understanding the tradeoffs\nKey considerations specific to K-12 and higher education\nCommon mistakes to avoid\nA four-step approach to building your security roadmap\n\nThis is an educational session\, not a sales pitch. Attendees will leave with actionable insights they can apply to their own institutions.

SUMMARY:Microsoft Webinar: Preventing the next district wide incident: Identity\, access\, and ransomware in K-12
DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to join the Microsoft Education team to learn about preventing district-wide cybersecurity incidents with the Microsoft tools that you already own\, and advanced solutions that build on your current investment. \nOption 1: Tuesday\, May 19\, 11:00 AM – 12:00 AM EST Signature Series | Preventing the Next District Wide Incident: Identity\, Access\, and Ransomware in K 12 \nOption 2: Tuesday\, May 19\, 7:00PM – 8:00 PM EST Signature Series | Preventing the Next District Wide Incident: Identity\, Access\, and Ransomware in K 12 \nK‑12 cybersecurity conversations often focus on ransomware\, phishing\, and protecting student data\, but most real incidents don’t start there. They start with identity. \nIn many school districts today\, administrative access still exists because “we need to get things done.” Accounts remain over‑permissioned\, admin access is always on\, and devices and systems are managed broadly with little segmentation. When one of those accounts is compromised and eventually one will be. The result isn’t just an incident.\, It’s a district‑wide blast radius. \nIn this session\, we’ll explore why identity and access security is the foundation of ransomware prevention\, and why simply enabling MFA isn’t enough. Using real‑world education scenarios\, we’ll break down how a single compromised admin account can provide access to every school\, every device\, and every critical system and how modern identity controls can dramatically limit the impact. \nWe’ll also connect identity security directly to ransomware readiness\, showing how districts can move from “hoping a breach never happens” to designing for containment and recovery. The goal isn’t to stop every breach\, that’s unrealistic in today’s threat landscape\, but to ensure that when something does happen\, it doesn’t become front‑page news. \nAttendees will leave with a clear understanding of: \n\nWhy admin accounts represent the largest unmanaged blast radius in K‑12\nHow over‑permissioned identity access accelerates ransomware impact\nWhat modern identity segmentation looks like in a school district\nHow to reduce risk using tools many districts already own\nWhy shrinking blast radius is the difference between a minor incident and a district‑wide disruption

We’ll show how educators can organize notes\, slides\, PDFs\, and unit resources into one grounded notebook\, then generate summaries\, topic pages\, flashcards\, quizzes\, and other practice activities for teachers and learners ages 13+. We’ll also cover responsible AI guidance\, classroom use cases\, and simple next steps for piloting the experience this summer. \nPlease feel free to share with any Instructional Tech and Educators interested in these topics. \nJune 18th Webinar – REGISTER HERE \nJust Announced on June 11th: Copilot Notebooks is now rolling out to all Microsoft 365 Education licenses \nEvery student knows the feeling: the test is coming\, the materials are everywhere— and the hardest part is not finding information\, it is knowing where to start. There is a PDF from the teacher. Slides from last week. A Word document with notes. Each piece has value. But studying means turning all of it into something usable: what to review first\, what connects together\, what still feels fuzzy\, and what to practice learning. That is why we are excited to share two updates for education. \nFirst\, Copilot Notebooks is now rolling out to Copilot Chat users\, available with Microsoft 365 Education licenses. FREE for ALL! Copilot Notebooks are AI-powered workspaces for a subject or group project built on reference materials—bringing together all context behind a topic in one place for you or your study group and Copilot to collaborate on. This addresses one of the top asks we have heard from Microsoft 365 Education customers: bring the power of Copilot Notebooks to the education licenses schools already use. This education expansion builds on the broader Copilot Notebooks announcement that brings Notebooks to all education and enterprise Copilot Chat users\, including new ways to work with your own materials in Notebooks with mind maps\, Study Guides\, and coming soon – the ability to create Word documents\, Excel spreadsheets\, and PowerPoint presentations. \nCopilot Notebooks are available in the Microsoft 365 Copilot web and desktop versions for Education users. Expect them to be available in Education tenants in the next two weeks. They will be available in OneNote in the weeks to follow. \nSecond\, Copilot Notebook Study Guide is now generally available both for education and enterprise users. Study Guide is an AI-powered feature in Notebooks that turns the learning materials you provide into a complete\, interactive study companion. Organized\, editable\, grounded in your references. Study Guide takes the materials learners already have and helps turn them into a collection of organized study topics and activities of your choice. \nDrop in PDFs\, Word documents\, PowerPoint presentations\, or Excel files. Study Guide reads across those references\, identifies the key ideas\, and creates a multi-page study guide inside the notebook.
